Course Description

Information system management provides a foundation upon which a hospital can develop and manage its information resources. The resultant computerized information system provides timely, accurate and relevant information to hospital managers and personnel for improving managerial decision making, promoting quality patient care, improving efficiency of operations, controlling the use of institutional sources and supporting service delivery throughout the organization. It will clarify how to establish IT links with business, planning and management. In addition, the course will introduce students to technology management through the analysis of IT lifecycle, IT architecture, systems integration, standards. The course focuses on key healthcare implications and the impact of IT quality, costs, operations. The purpose of clinical data systems is to acquire, analyze, store, and retrieve the data needed to provide, monitor, and evaluate patient care services.Management principles; organizational role; organizational relationships; information systems planning and management; resource requirements, quality management.
