Assoc. prof. Anna Mrzljak, FEBGH
Consultant GE/Hepatologist

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist and a Transplant physician at Liver Transplant Centre, University Hospital Merkur, Zagreb, and an associate professor at Medical School University of Zagreb. I trained in Medicine at the University of Zagreb, where I also obtained my PhD degree for the research in Transplantation medicine for which I received UNESCO Scientific Award “For Women in Science”. I worked as a research fellow at Institute for Liver Studies at King’s College Hospital, London. I am a Fellow of the European Board of Transplant Medicine and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

My main clinical and scientific work fields are Hepatology and Transplantation medicine. I have participated in over 20 international clinical trials and on several scientific projects related to viral hepatitis, NASH and liver transplantation. I was involved in the creation of national consensus documents on viral hepatitis. I have authored more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, and presented my work on numerous conferences. I teach and mentor graduate and postgraduate students at Medical School, University of Zagreb. I am an active member in several national/international hepatology and liver transplantation societies. Currently I serve as a member of the European Board of Transplant Medicine and a member of the Eurotransplant HCC Registry group. I am a member of several editorial boards and a reviewer for several journals.
