Doc.dr.sc. Vanesa Benkovic
Životopis
Vanesa Benković graduated in music from the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Zagreb, completed the postgraduate specialist study in Health Care Management (LMHS) at the School of Medicine in Zagreb, and holds a PhD on health inequalities from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb (sociology).
She has trained in pharmacoeconomics, health economics and advanced HTA modelling in France and Austria (European Society of Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics; Universität für Gesundheitswissenschaften, Medizinische Informatik und Technik). As an Open Society Foundation scholar, she completed a three-year programme in health economics at the European University at St. Petersburg. She is a registered mediator (Croatian Mediation Association), with negotiation training at INSEAD and the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
She is Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Sociology and Health Economics, Andrija Štampar School of Public Health, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. She teaches pharmacoeconomics, health economics and health-care financing at graduate and postgraduate level, including the Health Care Management study, and medical sociology to medical students. She also teaches at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in Zagreb.
Her work includes an extensive body of health-economic analysis and consultancy for medicines, devices and technologies across Central and South-East Europe, and a series of national cost-of-illness studies (obesity, diabetes, stroke, melanoma, malnutrition, Alzheimer’s disease). She has contributed to several EU projects (PaSQ, PARENT – Registry of Registries, SmartCare, CareWell, Urban Health Centres Europe), served as a health business intelligence consultant on a World Bank project for public health-care system integration, and worked on the study Performance of Health Systems in CEE. She publishes in sociology, public health, pharmacoeconomics and health economics.
